Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.
It's possible. Loud snoring is a common symptom, along with dry mouth, morning headaches and feeling sleepy throughout the day. It's worth speaking with your healthcare professional about a referral for testing.
Testing is easier than ever! Once we receive your referral, we arrange an appointment for you to pick up a testing device. It's worn around the chest and has a finger oximeter and a nasal cannula. At your appointment, we show you how to wear the device and how to use it.
Typically, you can test at home! The device is worn for one night in your own bed and it's returned to the clinic the following morning.
Results can take up to 6 weeks.
Your clinician explains your test results and what the respirologist suggests for you moving forward. Typically, any additional testing can be done from your own home.
An auto titration is a week long test where a CPAP device is used to treat breathing events. A certified clinician monitors your therapy to ensure effective treatment.
CPAP therapy has come a long way! We have many modern styles of masks designed for comfort, effectiveness and sleep styles. No matter how you sleep, we have a solution for your unique needs.
CPAP therapy is not a cure, but a treatment. In the same way that wearing glasses does not revert your eyes back to 20/20 vision, but allows your eyes to focus while worn, CPAP therapy continues to treat your sleep disordered breathing when used while asleep.
We are with you every step of the way! From mask fittings to therapy monitoring to prescription changes, you've got lifelong support with Parkland CPAP Services!
